I want to apologize for the way I responded earlier. I was rightfully angered, but that doesn't excuse it and for that you have my apology.
I say I was rightfully angered because you tried to compare an honest business owner that is very concerned with his community, his country, and yes the future of IT, with the lowest of humans, a slave owner. You then went on to poo-poo the role of a patent in a small company with: "While there may be some small benefit for the little guy".
Who are you to judge this? Do you hold a patent of any sort? Do you run a small business? How much have you invested in R&D? What percentage of your growth in employees/jobs do you attribute to your patented IP? How many licenses have you been able to work out with others including your competition?
You also said: "Everyone knows that patents will be used by the big and established companies to crush or suffocate the little"
I have just told you I AM in a position to know better. I have explained that the patent process is what gives me equal footing with those that would simply run over my rights. I have tried to explain this in terms of real dollars and real jobs. And yet, you tell me I am wrong about my own business! Again, what in your background allows you to dismiss me in such a way or to tell me that "society" would be better off crushing me and all others just like me?
All I heard is that YOU have nothing to lose so heck yeah, take it away from everyone. If this blanket approach costs No Ax his company or half the people working there their jobs, no problem, it's not me, ha ha ha ha...
If you want to get together and agree there is a great deal wrong with how patents are reviewed and granted I am with you 100%. If you want to lobby the law makers to fix these problems I am behind you 100% , and will put hard earned dollars in to the effort. But if all you want to do is say, screw you and everyone like you,,, Bud we got a real problem... - Posted by: No_Ax_to_Grind Posted on: 12/08/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
