Oracle has its own battles with open source databases.

Oracle has also its own battles with Microsoft SQL Server.

So Oracle should not help open source databases or Microsoft.

"Let the customers decide what OS they want to use."

Yes, that's right. You should go and tell Microsoft about this. Tell Microsoft that SQL Server is needed on Linux too and that Samba is to be fully supported on Windows servers for Linux desktops to connect to.
