Of course they are going to bash high end systems, they don't sell them. But the fact is, high end systems from the likes of IBM, Sun, and Unisys can do some tasks better than clusters. They can support bigger faster more efficient data pipes internally and they use less electricity and produce less heat. In the end customers will decide which route they prefer, but the market for big iron will be around for a long time to come in spite of all the advances in clustering, and in spite of the fact that some tasks lend themselves to clustering better than to big iron.
