They run, but theoretically much slower than a 64 bit app. So the question becomes whether or not it is worth upgrading to the 64 bit server and Windows server OS now, or whether you should wait for the apps, or whether you should go to a competitor that does have 64 bit apps. And I'm sure the answer will be different for different situations, but obviously the ultimate goal for MS would be to have all customers in consideration to upgrade now to their flavor.

Of course they will. Just as 16 bit Windows 3.x apps worked under Windows 9x.

Will they be slower? Possibly.

Will we notice? Probably not. Most of us won't notice the extra 2 miliseconds it will take for Word, Excel or LookOut (er..Outlook) to open up.

Will we care? Only if you're one of those who has to be up on the latest and greatest technology. Most of us won't.

The few that DO care are those who run massive apps {like databases) that need all the memory they can get on the business side and probably gamers (when games become available for the platform).
