Simple answer
They are in bed with intel, and intel has no main line solutions that need this, only high end workstations and low end servers. AMD has entire product lines from entry level desktops and laptops to high end servers that can use it. Intel will do whatever they can to make sure AMD doesnt have a usable advantage as long as it takes to make something to compete (or what they think they can fool people into calling competing).
