- You are assuming ...
- that Oracle sales people are recommending Windows to people. I doubt that is the case. I suspect they are only offering Oracle on Windows to people who are already commited to the Windows platform. These are people who wouldn't be buying Oracle were it not available for Windows. And those people are so used to the fleas, they will be perfectly capable of doing their own scratching. On the other hand, some of these very customers might be tempted to TRY Oracle on Linux, now that Oracle is not PUSHING Linux so hard. Customers do not like to be pushed around. Not by Microsoft. Not by Oracle. Not by anybody else. When you leave them alone and let them make the choices you will do well in business. When you start to try to force them on to a particular OS, any OS, you will risk making them angry and possibly losing their business.
