In the end, it will be Sun that saved us from Microsoft.
Microsoft knows full well that they can not use IP to attack Linux. Why? The biggest reason is that this would just drive customers into the open arms of Scott McNealy. Sun has all of their i's dotted and t's crossed with respect to intelectual property. And, Sun will eventually get on the Linux train and make money selling hardware and services around that. Also, Sun in combination with IBM and AMD are forcing Intel to compete and inovate, keeping processor prices down.

Really, Sun is one of the greatest companies ever with respect to what they have done for consumers. The problem is they haven't done much for their shareholders (me included) recently.
