Now that's a loaded question.....
Why move away from Microsoft??? Golly, where do I start. Of course, I could write a couple chapters on why Microsoft should be put out of business (or at least knocked down about 40 pegs). However, I just don't have that kind of time on my hands.

Basically, they are unethical predators that use their monopoly position to bully everyone else. I don't like doing business with that kind of company. Yeah, they are trying to now portray themselves as kinder and gentler, but that is ONLY because Linux has them scared. They are still the same group of scumbags they have always been, they are just hiding it a little better.

I also don't believe in a world where most of our computing power depends on a single OS. It makes us weak and vulnerable. If one computer can be slammed, they all can.

Finally, I firmly believe that Microsoft charges far too much for their products and can do so ONLY because of their monopoly. It is clear that as more people move away from MS, the more competition will force prices down to a more reasonable range. Microsoft has in fact already begun to compromise on some pricing in response to the little bit of competition from Linux. Imagine what they would have to do if Linux had only a 25% market share. That would be real competition which would of course even promote real innovation.

Yes, I said innovation. I don't see Microsoft as an innovator. I seem them as a company focused totally on revenue which happens to sometimes cause some minor innovations.

Of course Loverock, you know all these things. However, I felt compelled to type it all out in case someone is reading who doesn't understand the massive number of Microsoft haters that exist.
