CNET to launch indie music service

Back to P2P: for the indie music, I guess.

To quote a line from a favorite movie, "What in the wide, wide world of sports did you do that for?" Why in the world would you buy a name, announce that you would relaunch the service, but not buy the already-in-place infrastructure? I would think it would have been much cheaper than having to retool and relaunch, losing the valuable exposure when all these other services are launching.

By the time C-Net gets their act together, MTV, Virgin, MusicMatch, iTunes and even Napster will have gotten all the attention and market shares.
