As a Hoosier, I know that the cost of living here is a heck of a lot less than in Manhattan, Chicago, or LA. Indiana IT workers are not the highest paid in the nation, by no means, nor are any other of our technical trade workers. In fact, we've been paying Japanese companies to come over here---Toyota, is one. The thing is that a state/nation has to balance the concept of training, job creation and government efficiency.
Yes, we can outsource as much as we can to third world countries whose economies are skewed toward the extremely poor and the very rich. We can use their cheap labor to keep costs down; but, in the long run, as the old saying goes---whose gonna buy all of those $$45,000 Expeditions, if everyone is working p/t at McDonald's?
You have to have a certain salary level to maintain a sustainable national standard of living; if not, you are in a downward spiral toward Third Worldism. da martian
