Responding to Offshoring

What many are ignoring in this whole 'free trade thang' is that many of these offshore companies are multinationals and have allegiance only to themselves. They'll move jobs out of the country in a New York minit if it suits their bottom line. Their interest is their bottom line and nothing else--don't let 'patriotism' cloud your thinking with so-called american companies. If they are multi-national, they are no longer 'american' in the sense that their allegiance is to themselves. As one poster said, the Indian companies will use Indian managers, and use as many Indian nationals as possible; the multi-nationals will use what ever labor force is the cheapest.
With today's technology, we are in a pincer movement, between cheap foreign labor and cheapskating multinationals.
Protectionism isn't the answer, because it triggers trade wars, but being stupidly suicidal by not buying (IE Indiana's contract) services that strengthen one's own economy is idiocy. American's are not strategic thinkers: the Chinese are. So are the Indians. This is why India and China are mercantile threats today: they have megabillions of excess labor bodies and can produce even high tech products for pennies, as opposed to amercan companies who must use american workers AND conform to US environmental and workplace safety standards---which ain't cheap. da martian
