Retaining high paying tech jobs ain't jingoism
This has nothing to do with lazy, inefficient companies, although, with foreign competitition putting their feet to the fire, it does make them streamline their operations. This has to do with the fact that India has a middle class, whose number exeeds the entire population of the United States. They a major competitor and could roll over us with numbers alone, if we are not pro-active. Imagine, a nation with a middle class that exceeds 250,000,000, many of them english speaking.
The cost of livingn in India is so much lower (as are the standards, but we won't go there), that they can afford to pay Indian programmers and designers pennies, in comparison to US wage standards.
Losing shoe assembly jobs won't kill us, because they are minimum wage, but the assault on high paying tech jobs is a danger. the martian
