You dont understand business
>>My evidence would be the fact that so many companies are doing it.

But many now are stopping this practice. So it could be that these companies tried it and found no cost savings and are returning home with the work.

>>I'm not convinced; maybe they're the most productive in the western world. But suppose Americans are the most productive, that still doesn't make them the most cost-effective.

Actually the U.S. has the highest gross product production in the world. Products are never the cheapest but due to better quality and service it keeps them beating out the competition. This is why the U.S. is so rich.

>>People seem to think that they have the right to have a job doing whatever it is they want to, which is not the case.

I go into work every day knowing that if I dont do my job well there might not be a job tommorow. This is pretty common amongst most American workers. American businesses are extremely competitive and will drop dead weight (bad employees) at the drop of a hat. So this constant thought I am hearing of "lazy Americans with sure jobs" is odd since I have never seen it here in the United States. Name a U.S. business where this exists.

>>Small farmers are significantly less efficient than large industrial farms and there is no reason they should expect to be able to do farming for the rest of their life,

You must not be from the U.S. Small farmers here are doing just fine. They fill a very well known niche market that keeps them pretty busy. Times have been tough the last few years on small and large farming but recent law changes are making things better. An example is recent changes for state grants for cheaper farming equipment.

>>( This is again subject to the argument I gave above that those costs may not be substantially higher; but suppose they were.)

Theres a good reason why Indiana tax payers (such as myself) will pay more for a instate program over one in India: the money never leaves the state. So the tax money I spend just goes back into the state I live in. Why should I spend my tax money for someone in India who wont fix the roads here or improve the police or fire departments?
