Cheap? Let Microsoft set prices??
Car makers want to be able to differentiate their products and also to be able to add whatever features they want. They do not want to be led around by the ding-a-ling. They do not want Microsofts brand on the equipment. And, for embedded, Windows CE is no easier for the manufactures to work with than Linux. With Linux, you do not have to beg Microsoft for features, you can do it yourself or pay a third party. I will NOT buy a car with Windows running anything. Just how would you do monthly security updates??
