People should be powerless?
I live in a republic which is for and by the people, in theory.

..The vast majority of people could not care less...

And you're onw of them.
Not caring isn't an attribute that totally died in me yet. Some some faint smoldering embers of youthful idealology.
Business as usual.
If you're a small business owner developing software then this affects you more than the vast majority.
The big guys have everything stacked in their favor.
Hurt the small businesses owners and you hurt a major contributor to economic growth.
Bad decisions generally come back and bit you in the butt.

We'll wait and see if business as usual becomes business as very unusual.
