impractical
the whole point of using a distro, is so you don't have to do that. for a hacker or tech-geek, that's fine... but people who only see their PCs as tool to get other jobs done... they don't have the time for that.. they want some kind of package and soem kind of assurance that this package wil work and stay updated...
