Need to do more math
Add in the cost of ownership. Free software is never free. Sun Studio is 3,000.00. Star Office is cheap at 25 to 50 bucks per head but the backwards compability is null. So there is a much greater cost of updating to 7.0. We wont even discuss the cost of purchasing "Trusted" Solaris. That's important because if a company is giving away a "free" version and selling a "Trusted" version, it will kill their efforts with the major players. Plus all the other crap that is a la cart. Solaris 10 by itself is free....so what...by itself it's a paperweight. Don't bring up openoffice and all the other "free" stuff you can bolt on because businesses want someone responsible for their software. That's where Sun is king. Drive open-source to write their products for them, wrap it up with a bow, and stick a price tag on it.
