Freeing up Windows XP system resources.
I seem to be having the same problem you are having. I, too, got the same response from Earthlink, only not once by 4 times. I also tried removing everything not necessary to start my computer, but it did not change things for me. Perhaps it will work for you. I went clear down to starting in dianostic mode and it still did the same thing. My computer has 1 G of ram and is brand new, about 2 mo old. I have lots of room left and I cannot see why the resources would be too low. On my old 1998 desktop, it once in a while goes slow and then tells me that the resources are dangerously low, so I turn it off and I am going to have to clean the whole computer and then reinstall the orginal operating system. It has lots of stuff on it and I could see it being low. But not this brand new one with lots of memory. I hardly have anything on it. I emailed, chatted and talked to at least 13 different Earthlink techs. The last tech did mention that there seemed to be a conflict with the SP2. But did not elaborate. I never got it cleared up with Earthlink as after that statement, he did not talk about it again, (I never got him) and they never answered by questions regarding that statement. I tried everying each tech said. The only one I did not do was go into the registry and take out the first installation of Earthlink (which he said was faulty or had an error) Total Access2005 He then said to reinstall only by download. Do not use the CD. I had tried to install the update to my 2004 originally by download, but it had failed, so I had requested a CD to make sure it worked. So if the error is in the registry from the very first time I tried to update to 2005 Earthlink, it is still there, but I have installed, and reinstalled using both download and CD many times. If freeing up some of the System Resources helps you, please post it and I will try it one more time. Thanks for the
Symantec site. I just printed the info it has and will read it over to see if there is something I did not do before.
