And just how are they listening to customers?? Let's face it, it takes an act of god to get Microsoft to do what customers want. On a scale of 1 to 10, lock-in has an importance of about 10, and customer need an importance of about zero.

Oh, competition, that will light a fire under their but too!!!

The truth is that they want to let the browser die on the vine, but Firefox won't let them. They HATE anything cross platform. They want you to lock you into a Microsoft internet.
