Remember when...
Remember when StarOffice was free? Once they hook users, the plan is to start charging again. Sure, this version is free... what about the next version? And the version after that? It's classic "give it away below cost until we drive the competition out of business" strategy "then we can charge anything we want and they'll have to pay it and we make up for all our losses".

Sun is headed for the long, slow funeral procession to it's own death - that's been obvious for a long time now. It won't be today, it won't be tommorrow, but someday... unless they figure out how to make money again.

Oh and charge for bug fixes? That's real nice. "Gee, we screwed up and YOU have to pay for it".

Charge for support? Yes. That's how to make money.

Charge to fix lousy code? No. That's how to alienate people.
