I expect Solaris 10 to be much better than before, so lets assume it is equal to Linux overall.

That leaves the Sun part of the equation. Which looks very bad. Over the years, I have lost faith in Sun. They are a great company in the terms of what they come out with, but are horrible when it comes to on going support (unless it is on Sparc). Their management leaves little if nothing to desire, and as the previous poster said, they have a lot of mood swings that just seem to upset both sides of the fence.

Plus when you add in that Linux is probably already installed on the machine, it becomes a no brainer to stick with it. No point in uprooting all the work you put in just so you might get a better kernel and worser support.
