MS Indexing Service can already do this...
... but unfortunately it is not easy to use.

Indexing Service (which shipped with Win2k and XP, and disabled by default), can already do full-text searches, metadata searches, and more. Unfortunately, it is hidden away in the Management Console, and uses a strange query language. But the power is there. I always read about how MS needs WinFS to make search happen, but that's not true. The technology is already there. What's missing is an easy user interface for it.
