A call to all major universities
This is not rock science. One company should not own the way we search our files, and thereby be able to pull our chain when they want money. We also want to be able to search all file types with no descrimination.

So, lets get busy. I say Sleepy Cat's Berkley DB running on top of a normal journaled file system to start. We need to then define lots of different file types that any application can use or search. Of course the most talked about file format is a calender, which can be shared. We need ways of indexing each file type and searching like google would search the web. Any software project would be able to add hooks for their own file type.

Well, that is enough, we need a group working on this.
