I agree, except for one thing...
Software patents should be thrown out. Software is too flexible to be covered by patents. And it is already covered by copyright.

However, if the majority thinks they should exist, then they should be SEVERELY limited in scope and length. The patent should be very specific as to what is covered - no BT hyperlink, EOLAS downloadable applications, etc. - and should be limited to a maximum of 5 years. Actually, I would like it to be less, maybe 3 years.
