A Big Difference
Unlike SCO, which was never really anything more than a licensing company, Novell actually made useful and useable products. SCO is claiming that others are using their intellectual property. Novell sued because MS used its monopoly position to systematically harm Novell.

I remember the days when I wouldn't install the latest patch from MS until the next patch for WordPerfect came out. The reason?? The MS patch would almost always break WordPerfect, and that was the word processor in use by my employer at the time.
