Web Services Standards

As we all know, as population grows, the more complicated and time consuming services become. It's no different when it comes to business services on the Internet. It takes time for people to truly understand the complexity of creating websites. I'm not saying that 'more' is necessarily better, because when websites become too busy, active, flashy it can become too cumbersome for users to look at everything.

I think business owners need to understand these two things about what consumers\users look for. I can say, flashy and long, is not necessarily effective. So, how can we speed up progress, and not make it too complicated. First of all, slow down the rate of flash or any movement as it distracts the consumer\user's eyes and concentration. Of course, certain industries such as music and games that is expected. I'm talking about general everyday business.

In order to keep things simple, instead of using individual tags build them already complete in scripts\modules. The customer\user then would only have to insert the graphic, music, background, texture, etc. where it belongs. For example, the code for background, texture and graphic could be all be in one module. If they want an ordered list, all they would have to do is answer, how many slots, and how wide, then the script\module would create the code and all they would have to fill in is the button and text for the button. This would facilitate the web designer quicker creation time.

There are so many enhancements now (such as css,dhtml etc.) it takes website designers more time to accomplish what the customer wants. I know there are bugs in what I just wrote, but I don't think they are insurmountable.

A website that is cluttered, is very confusing for people to navigate around the site. I can also say that the everyday user (not business related)knows not much more than email, chat and games. Mostly because it is too complicated to search, they don't have a clue about 'tags'. If they get to a crowded website, they just give up.

Still, business owners need to understand it's not like web designers, just sit down and type like on a typewriter. There's a lot of thought that goes into the layout and effectivness of the website. Just like any other product, it does not happen overnight. They clearly don't have a clue. Need to have a good color scheme, properly sized graphics etc. Don't let them push you around, after all, where are they going to go? It's not like buying a car. Code is what it is and they may want this or that, well, it will take time. Good web designers are hard to come by.
