iTunes Website
The reason they didn't just create a website like some
others have done is that iTMS is really a way to push iPod
sales, and the way you get your music on to the iPod is by
using iTunes. So this makes it an easy solution to buying,
storing, and distributing your music all in one program.
You buy it from iTMS through iTunes. You listen to and
store your music in iTunes. You can distribute it to your
iPod and burn CDs from iTunes. One program does it all.
You couldn't do that if you just accessed it from your
browser.

"Besides, accessing services such as BuyMusic.com is a lot
more flexible and straightforward; the terms of use
downloaded music are usually more generous (in many
cases you can copy your music file to 3 computers, burn up
to 10 CDs, and place it on an unlimited amount of
devices);"

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying here. I think
you have it backwards. BuyMusic.com has a different DRM
for every song. Some you can't burn more than so many
times, other are unlimited, etc. Some you can move to
DMP's, some you cannot. And worst of all, the computer
authorization is non-transferable, so if you buy a new
computer, you have to either keep the old one or lose the
songs you purchased (leased). On iTMS every song has the
same DRM: 3 computers can be authorized at any time and
you can easily change which 3 are authorized, you can burn
the song to CD an unlimited number of times but the same
playlist only 10 times, you can move the song to an iPod an
unlimited number of times. This is the most lenient DRM
available from any of the services out there. The only one
that comes close is MusicMatch, but it's not quite as good.
