Hmmm, lets take a look at it.
No need to re-invent the wheel, rather lets look at history and see. Now is there anywhere in the world that patents have been in place for a long duration? Well, yes there is, the good old USA. Now, has the USA lead the world in innovation and technology? Well, as a matter of fact yes.

Ok, lets take it the other way. Do i see a lack of innovation in the industry? Well, no, not at all. In fact the innovation in the computer industry is coming so fast no one person can even keep track of it all.

So then, why would anyone not want patents? Hmmm, O think that is easy.

"However, EICTA's position is being challenged by some who oppose the introduction of software patents, such as the Foundation for a Free Information Infrastructure (FFII)."

FFII is simply another way to say open source and we all know why open source is terrified of patents, they won't be able to copy everyone else and will actually have to be innovative. Gee, imagine that...
