Oh dear, you ARE a lost cause
>"Nicholas Petreley's former lives include editorial director of LinuxWorld, executive editorial of InfoWorld Test Center, and columns on InfoWorld and ComputerWorld. He is the author of the Official Fedora Companion and is co-writing Linux Desktop Hacks for O'Reilly. He is also a part-time Evans Data Analyst and a freelance writer".

Cool, I now have the bio of the Linux zealot who wrote that article. It goes no further to show that this was anything other than a published posting on theregister. Guess what, many years ago, I did the same for ZDNet and funnily enough, theregister didn't print it. Hmm, I guess theregister is EVIL!!! Isn't that right, zealot?

>My fundamental assertion, which is that ZDnet selectively publishes only pro-Microsoft stories, and quite ruthlessly excludes many Microsoft news bites that don't show them in a good light, stands.

Your assertion may or may not stand, but it definitely doesn't stand based on what you have posted so far. Let's see, your 2 "proofs" consisted of an editorial on theregister and the assertion that an article wasn't published on ZDNet, which later turned out to be false. So 50% of your argument is suspect at best, and 50% of your argument is blatantly wrong. Wow, you are one talented debater! Care to continue? I'm sure there is more stuff you can post that we can laugh at!

I would suggest a firewall (software or hardware) is entry level security for any Internet connected computer. Considering I needed a hub anyway (you know, to network my laptop, XP machine, and my Linux server), eh, it was a very inexpensive purchase so I went the hardware route. Any more smart remarks you want me to crush?
