What you say is only true for today - and things are always changing. The "problem" with *nix OS' is since there is a CLI interface, people actually USE it! Pointing and pulling and clicking and typing is not as efficient/fast as just typing! The elegance and simplicity of the CLI pulls admins in, and nobody cares about how the GUI works (they don't use it). Many GUI tools are created for *nix, but the power users don't use them - so they don't get the testing and ergonomic design that is critical to GUI success (NOTE: The actual programmer is the WORST person to judge what GUI stuff is best). At the other end of the scale, *nix users only complain that the GUI "isn't as good as my PC", but they lack any ability to help make it that way. When Apple moved to *nix, they had a nice well-defined interface, and there was no need to "make it better" - at least initially.
