Linspire (Lindows) has done this longer and better
Linspire has been using this "model" for going on three years. Their licensing is even more flexible, and your "subscriptions" gets you a lot more than what Sun offers. Their CNR Technology is also far superior.

If you're looking for not only the easiest-to-use Linux desktop, but also the most advanced, give Linspire a look.
