"It certainly makes a lot more sense than buying software."

I seem to recall that not too long ago Microsoft suggested the very same model (remember software-as-a-service? Same thing) and was thoroughly bashed for it. Everyone proclaimed that users wouldn't want to keep paying for the same software over and over again, that once something is purchased it shouldn't cost anything ever again, that it was just another example of a monopoly forcing its users to keep paying for software.

My, how times have changed. It's funny how an idea that was so abhorent when brought out by Microsoft can be so appealing when backed by anyone else.
