Please remove the tinfoil hat before blogging....
Hint - this is not the former Soviet Union. The US (well, okay, maybe the Peoples Republic of Cambridge, but that is a different story anyway) does not require internal passports to move about from city to city, let alone state to state. So my guess as to the number of US citizens carrying their passport about during day to day business is pretty small.

So you may now remove the tin foil from your head. And you can remove your new $20 bills from that cute Mylar baggie you use as a wallet - that one was debunked too (RFID type tracking fibers woven into the new bill).
