Licensing of software is
a time consuming, expensive issue for many companies. You know it is bad when some people in an organization have to be the designated 'license keeper' Of course, Microsoft and Adobe love it, but in time, hopefully short time, enough alternatives will exist in the world of open source software to provide businesses with a wider range of options.
