Is software dead?
Let me suggest an alternative - an end to software. Who says software must continually be changed, revised, and updated. What happens when users conclude there is nothing more they want from their applications. Software firms are trying to morph into perpetual toll collectors, but what if they are doomed to pass away like the dinosaurs they are, leaving only their programs to live on. Most innovation is detrimental to survival after all.
