"Miss understanding" is a stated point.
My post was a disection of the logic of the 'charge per CPU" business model, not a statement of the rights of businesses to do so or anyone's choice to go with it. That covers the first two points and some of the third.

If another Box downloads and installs an OS from a server, then it is an install. So what about it? I think we spoke on the other issues already. BTW, Terminal Server charges per client, i.e., per box.

On the fourth point, Ax is right in saying that MS never charged anyone but MS did say earlier that when they come out, single CPU's with dual cores will be charged as single CPU's (as WinNT4, 2k and XP Pro all were designed for one or two CPU's anyway) but that systems with two dual core CPU's will be charged as four (again, when they come out).

The article begins so much with, "Taking a stand,..." in the first paragraph and "The announcement clears up confusion surrounding Microsoft's policy regarding so-called multicore processors...," in the second. MS did make an earlier announcement and this does change that.

You are right that they pre-empted the market but, like Kerry, after closely examining all aspects of the situation with all new data taken into account, made a better decision the second time around. And, just like Kerry, is allowed to reconsider if new information should suggest that a different course of action be taken.

More people should do that. That is smart leadership; adjusting your stand based upon what is best at the point of decision and not what was best at the point of misinformation. The latter is being a tough leader, I get to understand. We don't need no stinkin' tough leader. We need a smart leader.

Hey, anyone seen Dubya in this thread? Okay. No more politics.
