...instead of what they need and find the job cannot be done.

Apple caters to the people who knows what needs to be done and has the means --pronounced, 'money'-- to afford it. If you need a Mac, spend the money and get one. If you don't need a Mac, don't spend the money and get a $700.00 PC instead.

If you rather have an AMD64 FX processor, then take the money you wouold spend on a Mac and spend it on an Athlon64 FX 3200+. Mac does not have to lower their prices to make it affordable to the masses anymore than AMD has to lower the FX price or Intel the P4EE price or Sun the UltraSPARC IV or HP the PA-UX.

Buy what you can afford and stop telling Ferrarii to lower their prices because you want one.
