COXAPALOOZA 2003!
"Office 2003 will eventually destroy all other desktop publishing companies."

Well, Office 2003 just about destroyed a *publishing* company, but it wasn't a software publisher: One of my clients tried to build an ad in Word and email it to the newspaper where my fiance' works as production manager (builds the ads and puts together the paper, in other words). It weighed in at 105 megabytes, choked their mail server and was in all possible ways a total and complete disaster (being a color ad, there's no way in Hades that even if it *had* downloaded, it would have gone through a Postscript imagesetter properly and color separate for the printing press...it just ain't gonna happen). Meanwhile, the actual usuable ad that she had to redo for the hapless Word user in QuarkXPress (Mac version) weighed in around 5 megs and when she shoved it through Acrobat to send a version for me to inspect, it was down to around 2 megs and still had embedded images at high enough resolution to run on a printing press.

As an advertising person, I'm SO grateful for Office (any version). Why? Because people get bright ideas about trying to use Word or Publisher for professional document creation, only to have it blow up in their faces and then come to the sobering realization that there's simply no substitute for farming it out to a professional using REAL professional-level doc creation programs like InDesign, Illustrator (Adobe), QuarkXPress, CorelDraw, FreeHand, etc.

Next act onstage at COXAPALOOZA 2003: Microsoft claims that the Windows GDI is superior to Display Postscript! WOOHOOO!!!
