Great! Now I can buy another Tivo without FUD
Now that the new version of MCE is out, I feel confortable buying my 2nd Tivo (I was waiting to see if MCE might now be a better choice).

As a techie, MCE sounds nice, but as a consumer, I just can't see the logic of this kludge Tivo wannabe.

Why should I tie up my $3,000 PC (or even buy a new $600 PC) just to have a PVR?

For $100, (or more with larger disks) Tivo provides an idio-proof, super-easy to use appliance that is plug and forget.

In order for MCE to displace the dedicated-function appliance, it must be faster, cheaper, better.

MCE doesn't really give me anything better than a Tivo and in spite of the enhancements, it is still klunkier and harder to work with than Tivo.

What I really want is a decent file server app so I can serve-up video, photos, files, and music from one application on my PC instead of loading proprietary "peer to peer" server apps such as Apples Itunes for music, Tivo's for photos/music, etc. etc.

The real solution needed is a network attached hard disk that has built-in firmware with Tivo, Itunes, and other "clients" so it is plug-and-plug expandable storage for these appliances without having to tie up my PC and leave it runnning 24 x 7
