That would be because
many of the vedors you mention refuse to write drivers for Linux or open up API's and specs for Linux developers to easily create drivers. This has always been the case with Linux, it's a catch-22 of the system. To get driver support, you need to have a demand, but without the driver support demand is hard to get.
