Interesting Development
I need three things to convert to Linux:
Rock-solid Office Suite of apps (Word, Excel, PP, Access), interoperability with with MS apps, and games, the rest is already available. A couple of my home computers will switch over based on games availability alone.
The interesting development is that China, India and Brazil, and now France, are taking 'ownership' of Linux. The setup and user interface will improve, and there will be more software available. North-American software development sticking with MS will put them at a disadvantage if the world adopts Linux. Wordperfect and Lotus did bet on the IBM OS/2 - and lost. Their 'rally' to provide a Windows product a year after Windows 3.0 release was too little too late.
We have already lost IT research, development, manufacturing and product support. The only thing left is ownership of brand products - will we give up on that too.
