Sun didn't even try to invalidate this patent. They just did the math and decided it was cheaper to roll over. I can understand that from a buisiness point of view. It says however absolutely nothing about the validity in question. As I understand it Sun didn't even try hard to get the patent invalidated during the court procedures and provided no prior art even though there seems to be a ton of it according to the experts.
