Sun has paid the fee, ms already has as have IBM and HP. For them this is small change and a lawsuit would have cost more. I understand this from a buisiness point of view. The patent is so broad and obvious that kadak will run in to trouble if pubpat would decide to go after it. I think the moment kodak tries to do something like this to an open source programming language it will run in to deep trouble. Open source hasn't got the money to fight a patent lawsuit but it probably can get the money to ask the patent office to review these patents again. Something kodak doesn't want to happen.
