"By the time Sun is done with it .." IMO, Sun is done with it.

I don't think open sourcing Solaris is going to save them because they have "failed to learn the lessons of history". And they are in the process of repeating a mistake made by a lot of extinct companies.

Microsoft + Sun = Microsoft.
