Yesterday I had to call Microsoft to work out a jam I having with Windows XP and connecting to a network. I need to prove it was not our fault. The person I was talking to was form a call center in India. Because companies save on labor by outsourcing, it can offer me goods and services at a cheaper rate, which helps my bottom line. I can imagine what tech support I would get if we forced Microsoft to keep all it jobs in America or tax the mess out of them if they export jobs. I know it would be more than $35 or at worst, I will only get a taped message. You call center jockeys would still find yourself tossed out on your buts because business or consumers could not afford high prices caused by higher American wages.

Because of outsourcing, companies can offer IT products and services at a cheaper rate to business. While it might mean a few lost jobs and IBM cube farm, it means more opportunity is created elsewhere as lower price gives business the incentive to increase their IT spending. Of course, I do expect you to understand because your self-centered nearsightedness can only see the lost job and not the new opportunity.
