Finally, someone has summed up my feelings on the repercussions of outsourcing and did it in only 6 words.
IT outsourcing is only a drop in the bucket. No one has addressed the fact that numerous other job descriptions are currently also being outsourced such as customer service, telecommunications, data entry, and collections. This is just the beginning, there is no limit to how far corporations can take the extent of their business practices elsewhere. My predictions for the year 2010 is that we'll feel damn lucky to land a hamburger flipper job.
On one hand, I can't blame the corporations for wanting to seek the massive savings in payroll, especially when all the compitition is doing it. They'll go under if they don't now that the "outsourcing" ball is rolling. And many of these companies have gone from US companies to Global companies which does demand offices in other countries. But too many of these corporations that are outsourcing are also adopting stricter expectations from their American employees while simaltaniously cutting back on their wages, taking advantage of our fear of the unemployment line. Lower wages, non existant raises, higher insurance deductions, and usually twice the work load as when we first hired in. The "entry level" wage has lowered accordingly, as well, to below poverty level I might add. And that's if you're lucky enough to be hired.
I have a dim, bleak picture of the American future. At some point, every job that can be outsourced will be. The only rich Americans will be the corporation leaders, sports players, military personnel, and rock stars. Well, maybe some country and western singers too. The rest of us will be cleaning floors or flipping burgers or doing whatever other menial task that can't be outsourced. - Posted by: master of illusion Posted on: 11/20/03 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
