It's not all Doom and Gloom, look on the bright side
Back in 1993-94 outsourcing was a huge thing. Companies were outsourcing thier accountants and book keepers. Sure it wasn't to foriegn country but the concept is similiar.

Anyways I know a few of these bookkeepers and accountants who were laid off with buy out packages while thier jobs left for outsourcing. About 4 years went by and suddenly the businesses doing this outsourcing were spending twice what they paid the bookkeeper they employed and getting half the work done. Suddenly they need help and they contract out the work to the guy they employed to find productivity rise. So they hired my friend back at over 2 time the wage he was making before getting his job outsourced.

Simple, repetative jobs will be outsorced, gone for ever. It's the higher skill jobs that will be outsourced and will only end up driving IT wage up when the realization sets in that they are losing money. My guess is that will be 2008-09.
