Wow you're right;-)
"The real problem with linux's future, particularly on the
desktop, is that the linux advocates are counting on
Microsoft to screw up and they offer nothing in linux
beyond the non-root user restrictions on installing
programs and erasing data to protect them."

So apart from :

-working restricted user accounts (users behaviour)
-full source code (peer review)
-complete package management (only software you want)
-chroot (filesystem restriction for daemons)
-userland linux (multiple copies of linux on a partitioned
server)
-selinux (mandatory access controls)
-filesystem NOEXEC (prevent executables running)
-advance statefull packet filtering firewall
-executable bit (executables are not data)
-windowing system designed with security (no WIN32
shatter attacks)
-ssh and openssl (complete public/private key
infrastructure)
...
Linux offers nothing more than windows:-)

Perhaps learn a little about Linux, or *nix in general, before
making comparisons with windows security.

"A root user in linux is just as vulnerable except the lack of
anyone actually using linux has made the creation of linux
hacks unrewarding to the hacker."

Yes but unlike windows we don't run as root, nor do we
ever allow users to run as root. Get it?

"Without any advantage over Windows in terms of utility,
linux is not going to replace it. If it ever did, it would
probably have the same fate at the hands of the hackers
without the resources to recover."

Why the "if it ever did" when your first position was so
definite? Sadly Linux wouldn't have to suffer the same fate
as windows as windows is the worst designed OS currently
connected to the internet. It is incredibly poor, period.
Secondly Linux already has more developers working on a
typical GNU/Linux distribution than MS.

Anything to add?
