The IRS might be happy about RFID chips
Every year, businesses in the US have to pay inventory tax, and they pay this tax in addition to their regular business income tax. The more US businesses that adopt the RFID system, the less likely it will be that they will be able to fudge their inventory and sales records. While I do not like the RFID scheme, I can get at least some cold comfort out of my belief that the people who are most vociferously pimping this scheme will eventually find that it is not without drawbacks for them, too.
