I don't mind if companies track your buying habits, if you agree w/ it. It's just like getting the discount card at a grocery store; you agree to let the store track your purchases in exchange for getting discounts and coupons. If you don't like the idea, then don't get the card.

Of course, then comes the fact of who's subsidizing these discounts? The people who don't agree to the practice end up paying a higher price than normal. But at least you have a choice, and there's nothing (yet) stopping you from giving a fake address or some other way of "cheating" the system.

So long as people know what's being done w/ the data and can choose to participate freely, with no harm allowed if they choose not to participate.
